Woodrow W. Cross, Founder and Chairman of Cross Insurance, celebrated his 100th birthday with family and employees at his company's corporate headquarters in Bangor, Maine.
Mr. Cross founded Cross Insurance in 1954, at 38 years old, at his family's kitchen table in Bangor, Maine. Mr. Cross and his family, which included his wife, Janette Bean, and five children: Connie, Dennis, Royce, Brent & Judy, had recently moved to Bangor for greater economic and educational opportunities.
As the years progressed, Mr. Cross grew Cross Insurance into the nation's 33rd largest broker of U.S. Business, with 37 offices and more than 800 employees spread throughout New England. Mr. Cross has not stopped working for his company since he started it more than six decades ago, and still through his 100th birthday, Mr. Cross plays and active role in the day to day duties of company operations.
For his 100th birthday, Cross Insurance employees throughout New England and friends throughout the nation sent in videos and pictures expressing their congratulations, love, and gratitude for Mr. Cross.
