This webpage is a brief description of the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan made available to students through Bates College. This plan has been developed especially for Bates College students. The plan provides benefits for covered injuries and sickness that occur on and off campus, on a world-wide basis, 24 hours per day, during the period for which premium has been paid.
All Students are required to have health insurance coverage. Domestic students are asked annually to elect coverage through the Bates College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or to decline coverage if they are covered through another comparable insurance policy. This selection is made through the Garnet Gateway. Enrollment/Waiver period ends on September 4, 2020 for the Annual Term, or for the Winter Term January 10, 2021. Domestic students who have not made a selection by that date will be automatically enrolled in the Bates College SHIP. The premium for the Bates College SHIP will be added to student accounts in September for the Annual Term or in January for the Winter Term.
