History and Processes

Cross Insurance – Higher Education Division, originally founded in 2004 as Academic Risk Resources and Insurance, LLC (ARRI), was created to fulfill a market need for a risk management and insurance brokerage firm that puts the higher education client’s interests first.  In October 2012,  Cross Insurance, the largest privately held insurance broker in New England purchased ARRI – adding financial strength and operational resources to our flexible boutique structure.

We concentrate on what we know better than any other firm – higher education risk management, insurance placement, servicing, risk control and consulting.  Whether we are designing an insurance program, or assessing risk, or auditing insurance policies, or monitoring risk management policy implementation and progress, or analyzing losses to properly focus loss control efforts, or developing risk management policies and protocols and related training, or crafting customized insurance language to meet the ever evolving exposures of our clients’ insurable risks, our clients are beneficiaries to this breadth of experience and our determination to deliver excellence.  Our service team is motivated and experienced.  Our team respects each client’s individuality and we are committed to adapt to our client’s needs

We take pride in our clients’ successes in risk management.  We use an Enterprise Risk Management approach to our own work for our clients and assist our clients in implementing their Enterprise Risk Management goals wherever possible.   We offer you our full resources to provide you with the resources you need on campus, when you need them, and how you need them.

We recognize that our relationship with each educational institution is a true partnership:  a close working and trust building relationship.  We do believe we are the partner you seek and we hope for an opportunity to demonstrate that to you.
